IIGFF Visual Art Section to host works from 48 countries

About 50 countries are to attend the visual art section of the 6th Int’l Green Film Festival in Iran.

The 6th edition of the International Green Film Festival (IIGFF6) has been scheduled to play host to art works from 48 countries at its visual art section.

Slated for September 2017, the visual art section of Iran's largest environmental cinematic event has received a large number of artworks from home and abroad so far.

More than 1,240 of the submitted works belong to Iranian artists, the Public Relations Office of IIGFF said.

For the moment, a large number of artworks submitted from foreign countries are from China, Mexico, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Ecuador, Poland, South Korea, Russia and the US.

The festival’s jury panel will start evaluating the artworks soon. Then the panel will sort them in several competition categories, including photography, posters, illustrations, cartoons, conceptual arts and video arts.

This edition of the festival has planned to draw attention to sustainable tourism in accordance with UN World Tourism Organization that has decided to name 2017 as the International Year of Sustainable Tourism for Development.

The secretary of the festival, Farhad Tohidi, earlier in February said the event also puts spotlight on movies that promote green economy.

As Iran’s sole environmental event on motion pictures, the festival regards other media on its sidelines as well.

The event that was first scheduled to be held in July has taken topics such as clean energy and sustainable cities into consideration in selecting movies.

However, due to the supposedly probable extreme heat in Iran, the main organizer of the event, the Department of Environment, postponed it until September.

Long fiction films (more than 50 minutes), short fiction films (less than 30 minutes), long documentary films (more than 30 minutes), short documentary films (less than 30 minutes), animations and experimental films are the main sections of the international competition of IIGFF6.

The 6th edition of the International Green Film Festival is now slated for September 9-15, to be held in Tehran and some other Iranian cities.
